Roman School Session

2204

This month, Wessex Archaeology North based in Sheffield, was invited to Rainbow Forge Primary School to help them out with their topic on the Romans. Armed with a box full of various Roman finds, including pottery, roof tile and painted plaster, Alix Sperr spent a day teaching a Year 3 and a Year 4 class all about the role of the archaeologist, including what clothes archaeologists have to wear and what tools are used. The pupils had the opportunity to examine closely the Roman objects and consider what information these give us about people in the past. They were also challenged to think about how finds moved around the Roman Empire.
