WA Coastal and Marine

Time Travelling by Water

Underwater archaeology is an incredibly exciting and evocative subject that can capture attention and fire the imagination. The thrill of discovery, the level of preservation that can be expected in submerged contexts and the fact that huge areas of seabed are still unexplored, all contribute to the fascination. The Time Travelling by Water project has just one aim – to allow everyone to share this excitement by promoting learning and access to the wealth of resources and information generated by our coastal and marine team since the mid 1990s. Through the use of free workshops available to schools and community groups we will demonstrate, with real artefacts and first hand dive evidence, that coastal and marine archaeology is more than shipwrecks.
