WA C&M carries out investigations on behalf of a range of public authorities to provide information that they can use in making decisions about the historic environment. Work for local authorities has included desk-based studies of historic coastline change, and formerly important coastal industries such as salt-making. Major Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Surveys have been carried out in Kent and in Dorset. For the Environment Agency we have carried out historic audits of estuaries, and diving investigations of old waterway management structures. Examples of our work for English Heritage includes research and mapping of the historic Naval Bases at Portsmouth and Plymouth, numerous ALSF projects, and work on a number of designated wrecks sites, both individually and through the PWA 1973 Contract.
