What We Look For
WA C&M carries out research into all the key themes of coastal and marine archaeology. We look at all aspects of water transport and seafaring in the past, and at the evidence for our prehistoric predecessors on land now covered by water. Humans have often concentrated their activities at riversides and on the coast, so we look at a very wide range of site types and finds from hunting and gathering to heavy industry. Over the last hundred years, a layer of airborne activity has added to the things that can now be found underwater, so historic air crash sites have become an important focus of interest.
