The position:
At Wessex, we have a busy schedule of exciting projects ahead and, as a result, we are seeking additional experienced Fieldwork Technicians to join our Northern Region team based in Sheffield.
It is currently envisaged we will appoint Staff on 6-month fixed term contracts. Successful applicants will assist in the delivery of fieldwork services across the Northern region and Wales.
There is the potential for positions to be available on our ‘away’ projects where accommodation is provided during the working week and an overnight allowance in addition to your regular wage. Transport to and from site is provided by Wessex Archaeology.

Position requirements
  • A good degree in archaeology or related subject
  • A valid CSCS card
  • A flexible approach to working hours to meet the demands of the role, including occasional working away from home
  • The ability to work as part of a team and the willingness to support and assist others
  • Ability to work with self-awareness and the confidence to ask questions
  • Ability to manage own time and work to tight deadlines 
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Archaeologists
  • SSSTS qualification
