2690 Caroline Budd

Chief Operating Officer

Since completing her university education in 1998 Caroline has worked for Wessex Archaeology, so that's 20 years and counting!
Caroline’s current role is Chief Operating Officer, a role which incorporates all of the operational aspects of our organisation including heritage consultancy, archaeological and built heritage fieldwork, coastal and marine archaeology and research. She is a member of the Executive Management Team who are responsible for the success, culture and overall direction of Wessex Archaeology. Caroline leads an experienced team of operational Directors who provide advice and services on a wide range of projects from small single dwelling developments to large infra-structure projects and public sector contracts.
She began her career with the company at the bottom as a fieldwork site assistant in the terrestrial team and has progressed from there. Her path has offered many different experiences throughout our organisation and as such has furnished her with a wide ranging and fairly unique set of archaeological and heritage skills.
She has worked in both terrestrial and marine environments which has given her a clear understanding of the legislation, guidance and methods required to succeed in managing the risks and requirements of our clients and key stakeholders in all sectors.
In her free time Caroline still enjoys being outside, gardening and spending days in the sunshine with a good book and her three cats.
