Ste Apolline’s Chapel, Guernsey: Draft Reports
Wessex Archaeology, in partnership with Carden and Godfrey Architects, John Mitchell, AVN Conservation Consultancy and Environmental Design Associates Ltd, were commissioned by the States of Guernsey to produce a Conservation and Management Plan for Ste Apolline’s Chapel, St Saviour’s Parish, Guernsey.
The Chapel dates from 1392 and, despite a major restoration in the 1970s, continuing damp problems and an unstable internal environment are putting the Chapel’s Medieval wall paintings at risk. The Conservation and Management Plan sought to understand the history of the Chapel, to identify its significance and how that significance is at risk, and then establish policies to address the risks. Management proposals were then outlined to help turn theory into practice.
This section includes the Summary of the Draft Conservation and Management Plan, and the full Draft Conservation Plan. These Draft documents are for public consultation and comments should be directed to the Historic Sites Manager, Heritage Committee, Castle Cornet, St Peter Port, Guernsey no later than Monday 9th February 2004.
