As part of a series of archaeological investigations in association with a proposed new leisure village near Holyhead, Wessex Archaeology carried out a trial trench evaluation between October and November 2014. This uncovered evidence for prehistoric activity including finds and features from the Neolithic (4000-2400 BC) and Early Bronze Age (2400-1500 BC). Most of the Neolithic pottery sherds came from a single Middle Neolithic Peterborough Ware jar which was decorated all over the outside by finger pinching. Also found was a metalled surface though to be the continuation of a Roman track known from an adjacent investigation.
