My name is Peter. I’ve have just started a six-month work placement with Wessex Archaeology working as part of the Business Support team in Sheffield. My placement is through the Source Academy as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme, which provides a six-month paid placement for young people between the ages of 16-24 and aims to encourage employers to join a national effort to get young people into employment.

I’ll be helping with many of the support functions from time sheets to procurement and general office duties. Since I finished school, I’ve been studying the different aspects of games design over the years and recently graduated from the Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Games Design. After dedicating a lot of time and learning much of what I aimed to, combined with a tough industry and a pandemic, my goal is now to get work experience, broaden my skill set and build relationships in a working environment.

You may have guessed; I am very much interested in Video Games of which I play a lot of in my free time. I’m not into any one genre, so I like to play anything and everything! I like to stay creative and enjoy drawing on occasion. As a bit of a techie, I mainly do digital drawing and 3D sculpting. Japanese Culture/Media is another keen interested of mine and I have been learning the language in my spare time. I visited the country in 2017 and hope to one day get a job teaching English over there.

Everyone in the office has been incredibly helpful and I’m looking forward to continuing working with Wessex to improve my skillset in the work environment.
