Happy New Year from Wessex Archaeology!

For us, 2019 was a very special year, as it marked our 40th anniversary year. We had the chance to examine our own story and set a course for the future. Wessex Archaeology’s sustained growth is the result of the passion and expertise of our staff, our continued innovation and the quality of our extensive range of services. We’d like to thank all our clients and stakeholders for their continued support and contributions which has enabled us to flourish.

With the dawning of the new decade, we're looking forward to helping our clients meet the demands and opportunities predicted to affect the industry.

We’ve already seen monumental changes in the fields of tech and data – ones that have contributed greatly to increasing productivity, efficiency and targeting. This is something set to continue, and Wessex Archaeology has been at the forefront of embracing technological advances as an integral part of our services. From UAVs (drones) and underwater ROVs to geophysical datasets, our team of experts combine traditional methods with cutting-edge techniques to offer targeted solutions to managing archaeological and heritage assets. This ensures that our work is accurate and timely, without risking project programmes.

Pioneering techniques, such as UAV, are at the forefront of Wessex Archaeology's practice

More than ever, project delivery teams are expecting greater integration with their specialists and sub-contractors – something which requires mutual respect and understanding to increase positive collaboration on a project. We have welcomed this way of working. In fact, it’s one of our organisation’s Core Values. We’ve already been instrumental in many project teams for adding value from the start of a project, where we can offer insights and advice on gaining planning consents around heritage, as well as at the public face of the project in enhancing engagement and goodwill within local communities.

We are passionate about delivering sustainable management solutions for the environment

Working collaboratively to add value to projects for the public

Despite the continuing uncertainties in the market caused by Brexit, we enter 2020 on a positive trajectory of continued innovation and a greater awareness of wider global issues, like climate change, which we must come together to solve.
