Key staff Geoarchaeology & Environmental

I joined Wessex Archaeology’s Salisbury office in 1999, and have led the Geoarchaeology & Environmental team since 2013. During this time we have worked on large scale infrastructure schemes across Southern England, the Midlands, Wales and East Anglia.  Recent major projects include extensive geoarchaeological desk-based assessment works in advance of High Speed 2, and the evaluation of eleven foreshore sites along the route of the Thames Tideway Tunnel.

I specialise in designing innovative and effective solutions to clients’ archaeological problems, using a wide range of specialist techniques to evaluate sites which are which are deeply buried, inaccessible or dangerous to investigate using normal archaeological methods. My archaeological interests are varied but particularly include the Late Pleistocene, Early Holocene and Beaker periods, and the geoarchaeology of Salisbury Plain, the Severn Estuary, London and Winchester.

Outside of work I enjoy running, growing giant pumpkins and messing about in the stream with my kids.
