The Studio

I joined Wessex Archaeology in 2018 as a Graphics Supervisor based in the Bristol office, where I currently focus on producing illustrations for client reports and publications. I also specialise in reconstruction illustration, finds illustration, and information graphics, and I am confident and proficient in the use of both traditional and digital drawing media to create effective and engaging visuals.

My background is in Art & Design, after gaining an MA in Archaeological Illustration in 2009, I worked as a freelance archaeological illustrator and reconstruction artist for nine years, working on a wide variety of commissions for museums and site interpretation, publications and educational materials. Prior to this, I was employed within the Heritage and Archive sectors for over 15 years, specialising in materials such as historic photography, aerial photography, plans and measured drawings.

I am motivated by the efficient use of illustration to convey the data and stories that arise from archaeological investigation, and my aim is to keep developing innovative and fresh methods of visual depiction to do so. When I am not illustrating archaeology, I can usually be found sketching or painting, making arrows and shooting longbows, knitting, weaving or sewing, swing dancing, or going to see live music.
