One of our geophysics teams is currently working at Ashley Walk in the New Forest and their work has been featured in the press today. The surveys are part of the New Forest National Park’s ongoing project which is looking at the history of World War II in the New Forest.

The geophysical survey work, which is being undertaken by our team, is focused on over a bomb shelter built specifically to assess the impact caused by bombs, and in particular the impact of the Grand Slam bomb designed by Barnes Wallis.

The team are trailing a series of geophysical techniques over the concrete bunker including magnetometry, resistivity, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) with the aim of assessing the current condition of the structure, which was covered with earth after the end of the war.
