Lecture at the Society of Antiquaries

On Thursday 20th March, Alistair Barclay and Gareth Chaffey presented a lecture at the Society of Antiquaries, Burlington House, London, titled ‘When Prehistoric Farming Begins: New Insights from Kingsmead Quarry’. They described the excavations at the Berkshire quarry which have provided new insights into how society changed, and how people lived from the 4th to 2nd millennia BC. Discoveries at the site include the remains of four Early Neolithic houses, an early Beaker burial rare in south-east England, and the complex settled, agricultural landscape of the Middle Bronze Age.

The well attended talk was part of an Ordinary Meeting of Fellows.
