Senior Project Officer
Cai began his career working on urban excavations in London for Wessex Archaeology in 2002 and re-joined Wessex Archaeology as a Project Officer at their Bristol Office in 2014. He is currently responsible for the day to day running of the Bristol Office’s larger fieldwork projects, such as the Bath Quays Excavations, as well as project managing smaller sites.  He is also the training co-ordinator and buildings archaeologist for the Bristol Office.
 
He has directed a wide range of projects throughout England, particularly in the South West; including road and rail schemes, urban and rural building projects, mineral extraction, Defence Estates, and utilities infrastructure. He has an in depth understanding of deep urban stratigraphy and has directed numerous city centre, industrial and cemetery excavations.
 
Cai also undertakes historic building recording, and writes client reports and publications. He is an experienced Finds Officer, specialising in post-medieval ceramics and glass.
