Dan joined Wessex Archaeology in 2012 and provides advice and specialist services for both maritime and terrestrial development projects.
Dan has an academic and commercial background in terrestrial and maritime archaeology with a proven track record spanning over 16 years. He has particular expertise in environmental impact assessment; the archaeology of maritime installations; boat and ship archaeology; and the conservation and management of the marine and terrestrial historic environment. In addition, Dan has managed a number of large high profile renewables and infrastructure projects (Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm, Sound of Islay Tidal Array, upper Forth crossing, New Forth Crossing, and M74 Completion) as well as numerous harbour expansion and maintenance schemes (Aberdeen, Greenock, Leith, and Dundee).
Dan is involved in a number of committees and specialist groups (co-Chair of the Marine and Maritime Panel of the Scottish Archaeological Research Framework; Convenor of the Maritime Taskforce for the Built Environment Forum for Scotland; committee member of Institute for Archaeologists Maritime Affairs Group, and Regional Tutor for the Nautical Archaeological Society).
