Geoservices

Wessex Archaeology’s geoservices team brings together geophysics, geomatics and geoarchaeology experts to allow us to provide specialist input into projects and deliver a range of services to our clients. The unique collection of expertise within the geoservices team has a common theme of applying Earth Science techniques to a wide range of archaeological projects, whether they are above ground, below ground or under water.

With over 20 staff from a variety of academic backgrounds, and with industry experience covering the engineering, marine survey, metric survey and consultancy sectors, our team can be trusted to design pragmatic solutions to fit the project brief and budget.

This in-house expertise helps our clients through the planning process by understanding their needs to rapidly address the cultural heritage aspects of a site, whether through geophysical or geoarchaeological surveys for the pre-determination stage of a project, or by efficiently complying with planning conditions or consents during the development of a project with palaeoenvironmental assessments, or the geophysical monitoring of sites.
