We are delighted to announce that finds from the excavations at Kingsmead Quarry, Horton, will be placed on semi-permanent display at Windsor Museum.
The display will focus on the discovery of a rare Beaker burial. The woman of importance, or ‘queen’ was found with gold and amber grave goods, as well as a Beaker pottery vessel. All will be on display at the museum for at least 1 year.
The exhibit will also include finds which explore the secrets of the site as we present the hidden past beneath Horton’s ancient landscape and uncover the imprints left by farming, community and ritual activity.
A free talk about these discoveries will be given by Wessex Archaeology at Windsor Museum on 5th March 2014 at 6:30pm to celebrate the launch of the display.
