Welcome to Tom Westhead, the newest member of our Studio team based in the Salisbury Office. Tom joins us as Wessex Archaeology’s photographer, capturing high quality images suitable for publication, reports, web, social media and community engagement. Tom says:

My aim is to capture the essence of what we do and generate interest in both our commercial services and archaeology and heritage as a whole.

I recently returned from Canada where I was working as a professional photographer in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, capturing corporate events at world renowned hotels and conference centres, stunning landscapes and amazing wildlife, including grizzly bears, big horn sheep and elk. I have gained a huge amount of experience and skills over the years which help me to tell human stories and create visual media that is inspiring, purposeful, educational and accessible to people from all walks of life and backgrounds.

When I’m not at work I can be found out hiking and exploring with my camera in tow, playing football, reading, watching a good movie or documentary or travelling.”

Wessex Archaeology’s Studio comprises an in-house team of creatives, delivering all design, publication, display and digital media for commercial clients and public benefit. The team can provide photography, photogrammetry, video and sound capture/editing, 2D reconstructions both analogue and digital, 3D reconstructions and printing, and is currently developing AR, VR, apps and animation. Our heritage interpretation skills help to bring the past to life and engage a wider audience with the archaeology we discover.
