Expertise

Research Specialist

I took up my role as senior Zooarchaeologist based at Wessex Archaeology’s Salisbury office in 2010 where I am responsible for the analysis of animal bone assemblages right through to publication. Publications I have worked on include those covering large assemblages from Amesbury Down and High Post near Salisbury, Carshalton in Surrey and Eye in Suffolk. I also direct fieldwork projects and write site reports. Recent project work includes large-scale, multi-phase excavations at RNAS Yeovilton, Lyde Road and Steart Point in Somerset. I also maintain the in-house reference collection of modern mammal, bird and fish skeletons.

I am motivated by a desire to deliver reports that provide a holistic and inter-disciplinary view of human-animal relationships and their role in the interpretation of past cultures.

In my spare time I am a keen (but not always successful) gardener and like reading historically based crime fiction.
