Expertise

Geoarchaeology & Environmental

I have ten years of experience in environmental archaeology and geoarchaeology and my role with Wessex Archaeology’s Salisbury office encompasses both disciplines. Day to day I can be working on anything from extraction of charred, mineralised and waterlogged plant remains and molluscs to borehole surveys, auger surveys, sediment descriptions as well as subsampling material for radiocarbon dating and palaeoenvironmental remains. Much of my time is either spent looking down a microscope or examining depositional processes in soils.

I am constantly fascinated that we can gain so much information about past environments from microscopic evidence. I am driven by my desire to learn something new almost every day and my job constantly gives me the opportunity to do so.

In my spare time I enjoy live music, playing in my band and amateur taxidermy!
