Adam Nightingale

I joined Marine Services in 2023. My role is split between fieldwork and delivering work for clients such as producing desk-based assessments and WSI’s. 

I have worked in several different fields including in the Armed Forces and as a history teacher. I completed my Masters in Maritime Archaeology at the University of Southampton, shifting careers to work in commercial archaeology. I first joined the Wessex Archaeology team in 2022, working in the terrestrial fieldwork department. I had the privilege to work on a variety of sites, completing excavations and evaluations from a broad chronological spectrum. I moved to Coastal & Marine in September 2023. I am a certified HSE SCUBA and Surface Supply diver. 

I am motivated by a love of history and our past, with the belief that knowing and understanding our past enriches our lives in the present and helps form a guide for the future. Our heritage is something that is worth protecting as ultimately it is what has shaped us into what we are today.
