Expertise

The Studio

I joined Wessex Archaeology in 2022. My role is to visualise archaeological results and complex data to enable different target audiences to understand and engage with heritage.

As an illustrator I use different software to create a range of graphic outputs and illustrations, principally for client reports or publication. GIS us used as a standard to prepare maps and plans, while AdobeCCS is used for more detailed plans, sections and editing photographs.

I also illustrate artefacts by hand, creating accurate measured drawings in pencil on permetrace before digital inking and paging up, ready for publication.

Lastly, I have experience in animation, reconstruction and heritage-themed artworks. It’s always a pleasure to work on such briefs, which require a potent little cocktail of careful applied research and bold creative spirit. It can be a lot of fun and there’s usually something interesting to look at in the end.

In my spare time I like to get outdoors and see new places, even if that only means going five minutes down the road to some previously overlooked hill. I also enjoy reading and playing video games, particularly those that have a good story to tell.
