Expertise

Post-Excavation

I joined Wessex Archaeology in 2021 as an Environmental Archaeologist and I am based in the Amesbury office.

I specialise in the identification of charred, waterlogged, and mineral-replaced plant macroremains retrieved from archaeological sites, including cereal grains and chaff, fruits, and wild seeds.

My daily roles include the assessment and analysis of environmental samples and reporting. I have identified and reported on assemblages from a variety of periods, from palaeolithic waterlogged plant remains retrieved from geoarchaeological boreholes, to charred assemblages from Romano-British crop-dryers, to the mineral-replaced contents of post-medieval cesspits.

My work contributes to the understanding of human-environment interactions, including the exploitation of the landscape, resource selection, agricultural activities, and the reconstruction of past diets.
