Expertise

Trustee

I joined Wessex Archaeology as a Trustee in 2025, bringing extensive commercial expertise in managing large-scale projects across the globe. My ESG background supports the organisation in progressing its net zero and other sustainability initiatives.

Despite having a Master’s in Palaeoarchaeology, my career has been in Geology, and more recently in Mining ESG (Environment, Social, Governance). In addition to executing technical programmes, I’ve formulated and implemented successful environmental, biodiversity, rehabilitation, and clean energy projects, as well as community upliftment and local economic development initiatives.  I’ve had the good fortune to work in Australia, Africa, Canada, and now the UK.

Currently, I am  Head of ESG at Digbee, and previously worked for De Beers, Mwana Africa, Digby Wells Environmental, set up my own company Kotiya Consulting, and was a Director of Gravity Diamonds.  I am a Fellow of the Geological Society and the Geological Society of South Africa, a Professional Natural Scientist, and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

I believe in sharing professional skills and knowledge, and have Chaired the Chagos Conservation Trust, served on the Advisory Board of NatureMetrics (a commercial eDNA firm), and on outreach committees for Women in Mining and the Association for Mineral Exploration.  I’ve also been an Education and Animal Husbandry Assistant at the Vancouver Aquarium, and an Equine Care Volunteer at the Mare & Foal Sanctuary and with Riding for the Disabled.
