Expertise

Trustee

I joined Wessex Archaeology in 2025. As a legal expert, I support the organisation in navigating a range of legal matters. I also bring considerable experience in the renewables sector, which has been a significant thread running through my career for more than 20 years.

My varied academic and professional past started with a degree in Geology and an MSc in Engineering Geology, which led to me working offshore for three years in the North Sea as a Field Engineer. I then jumped ship and spent two years at law school before training as a solicitor in Bristol. In advance of gaining my qualification as a solicitor, I moved to National Power. I spent 15 years working in various legal and commercial roles across corporate, retail, trading, renewable and generation divisions of its successor businesses, both in the UK and abroad. This included a number of years as Head of Property and Facilities for the retail and generation businesses with responsibility for managing all office and generation sites, before rejoining the legal team of RWE Npower as a Corporate Commercial Lawyer.

In 2012, with a colleague, I decided to take a leap into the dark and set up a boutique legal practice focussing entirely on the energy sector, particularly renewables. Renew Legal is now in its twelfth year and has grown to a team of 12 lawyers located across England, Scotland and Wales. We provide legal support across the development and operational lifecycle of renewable projects of all technologies, sizes and types.
