Welcome to SESARF!
Welcome to the commencement of the South East Scotland Archaeological Research Framework (SESARF). This Research Framework will cover the local authority areas of the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders. Being led by the South East Scotland Archaeology Partnership (SESAP) and project managed by Wessex Archaeology the project began in June 2017 with an inception workshop at Haddington Town Hall and is due to be completed and online by June 2019.

In order to establish key themes and elements for inclusion within the Research Framework a series of workshops have been scheduled to focus on different groups and sectors within the archaeological community.
The aim of these workshops is to be as inclusive as possible and to allow everyone with an interest in the archaeology and heritage of the region to have an input in the Research Framework. We also want to establish a Working Group who will commit to providing specific content and expertise over the next 18 months or so. We are particularly keen on welcoming early career researchers to contribute to the framework.
The workshops will each be one-day events broken into two sessions, that of Looking Backwards to discuss what the known archaeological and heritage of the areas are and then Looking Forwards sessions to consider what we would like to focus research for the areas on.
The dates and target audience for each of these days are listed below:
Monday 23 October
- Commercial Archaeology Units
- Academia/Higher Education
Wednesday 25 October
- Museums, Attractions
- Conservation and
- Curatorial Bodies
Tuesday 31 October
The workshops are free to attend with tea, coffee and lunch provided at The Edinburgh Quaker Meeting House in the heart of the City Centre. To reserve your space at the relevant workshop please follow this link. We look forward to seeing you there!
