Wessex Archaeology’s Research Team produces research frameworks, guidance and standards for the UK heritage sector. Our role varies from providing expert advisors or contributors to start-to-finish project management.
We have contributed to regional research frameworks and to national specialist standards and guidance on human bone, archives, organic residues and pottery.
Our expertise in working with multiple stakeholders was demonstrated when we were commissioned to manage and produce the research agenda, strategy and resource assessment for Stonehenge, Avebury and associated sites – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We have also helped to write A Standard for Pottery Studies in Archaeology. This is the recognised industry standard for working with pottery in all types of archaeological projects and by community groups, professional contractors and researcher institutions.
